Wat kom jij hier doen?
Deze vraag helpt je ontdekken wat speciaal aan jou is. James Hillman noemt dit de Eikenvrucht theorie. Deze theorie zegt dat iedereen een uniek plan heeft, zoals een zaadje dat een grote eikenboom wil worden. Dit plan zit in jou en is altijd aanwezig, nu en in de toekomst.
Het idee is al heel oud. De Griekse filosoof Plato zei dat iedereen op aarde komt met een doel. Voor je geboren wordt, kiest je ziel een speciaal plan om te volgen, en je krijgt ook een helper, je daimon. Dit is een soort gids die je helpt om je roeping te herinneren, want als je geboren wordt, vergeet je wat je moet doen.
Er zijn veel namen voor deze helper. De Romeinen noemden het genius, de Grieken je daimon, en andere culturen hebben ook hun eigen woorden. Het maakt niet uit hoe je het noemt. Wat belangrijk is, is dat het je helpt om te doen wat je leuk vindt en waar je goed in bent.
Ontdek jouw roeping
De Eikenvrucht theorie moedigt je aan om naar je leven te kijken. Denk terug aan je kindertijd. Wat vond je leuk? Wat maakte je blij? Dat kan je helpen om je roeping te ontdekken. Soms gebeuren er ook dingen in je leven die je laten nadenken over wat je echt wilt doen. Zoals het verhaal van Jonah, die in een walvis belandde en zo zijn echte roeping ontdekte.
Denk na over de bijzondere momenten in jouw leven. Wat heeft jou geholpen om je roeping te zien? Soms komt je roeping langzaam naar voren, of lijkt het moeilijk om hem te vinden, maar uiteindelijk zal hij altijd weer terugkomen.
Een roeping is belangrijk en zal nooit verdwijnen. Net zoals een eikel al het materiaal heeft om een grote eikenboom te worden. Dit kan een geruststellende gedachte zijn voor iedereen die zich soms afvraagt: Wie ben ik? Wat wil ik? Hoe maak ik van mijn leven een mooi verhaal?
